The Simone Veil Centre's Cultural & Academic Events

Alongside its research activities, CSEPS is also active in bringing to life various of cultural and academic events, with the aim of enriching it's students, as well as the rest of BGU's students' academic and cultural experience during their studies. These activities range from workshops and conferences, through cinema and 'knowledge on the bar' evenings, to outdoor tours exploring the European context in Israel.

The conference, in association with the Department of Politics and Government at Ben Gurion University, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and Tel Aviv - Yaffo Academic College, aims to bring together young researchers with a special interest in European politics and society.

Europe Day!

On Monday the 16th of May, The Centre for the Study of European Politics and Society at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev held their Europe Day celebrations! The day began with a European embassy fair in which many embassies showcased the various options that they offer for studying in their country. Hundreds of students came to ask questions and inquire about studying in Europe. The day continued with a "Round Table" event in which six different Ambassadors and Deputy Ambassadors, including the Head of the EU Delegation H.E. Lars Faaborg Andersen, met with small groups of students for insightful discussions. H.E. Andersen also presented the prizes to the winners of the photography contest "Imagine, Discover, Explore" in which participants had been asked to send in photographs that they took during trips to Europe. "Uneasy Neighbours" International Seminar

Young European researchers from Germany, Poland and Greece participated in a seminar aimed at presenting certain aspects of Europe's neighbourhood policies while offering the chance to view Israel as a fascinating case study. The seminar invloved the student's presenting their research, international guest speakers and visits to Eastern Jerusalem, Nachal Oz, Ein Ovdat and more.

A day tour in the old city of Beer-Sheva, tracing the 'Great Flanking' and the remaiders of the battles that took place in the area during World War 1.

A lecture from Prof. Ovidiu Ivancu on the construction of Romanian identity, from the fall of Communism to the accession to the European Union.

The Third International Comics Conference - Antisemitism and Hatred of the Other in Caricatures and Comics.

The conference will host academics, artists and media figures to deal with antisemitism, racism and hatred of 'the other' in caricatures. In association with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Israeli Cartoon Museum.
